Invasor to conquer Dubai World Cup Print E-mail

He came into this year voted as Eclipse 2006 Horse of the Year--after winning 2005's Horse of the Year honors in Uruguay--and in his first 2007 start, Invasor made certain his conquest of the racing world would not be stopped.
At the Grade I Donn Handicap, Invasor let no opponent keep him from winning. After being checked and clipping heels around a treacherous second turn, he rallied to a two-length victory under jockey Fernando Jara.

Invasor's next start will be on Saturday, March 31st at the twelfth running of the Dubai World Cup. Billed as the world's richest race, the six-million-dollar Group I contest is run at Nad Al Sheba Race Course.

Last year at Nad Al Sheba, Invasor was left with the only loss on his lifetime record, when he placed fourth in the UAE Derby (Goup II). That race was won by Discreet Cat

Aside from the World Cup, the world's richest meet has five more Thoroughbred Group races, and one for Group I purebred Arabians.

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin says he'll probably begin to work Invasor two weeks after the Donn Handicap.
