BelmontUnder jockey Eibar Coa, longshot Red Zipper (12-1) led all the way to a half-length victory at Belmont Park's $113,100 Kingston Handicap on Mother's Day. The nine-furlong turf race is for New York breds, three-years and older. The four-year-old gelded son of City Zip now has four wins and one second in six grass starts. John Morrison is the winning trainer.

Slew's Tizzy wins muddy Lone Star Derby Print E-mail

Lone Star2007 Lexington Stakes 40-1 longshot winner Slew's Tizzy went off as the 5-2 favorite for Saturday's Lone Star Derby. The Grade 3, $300,000, 1 1/16 mile race was run over a sloppy sealed track. With Robby Albarado on board for trainer Gregory Fox, Slew's Tizzy pressed the leaders and put away Mr. Nightlinger in the final furlong to get away with a 1 and 3/4 lengths win. Moyer's Pond was second, and Forty Grams finished in a dead-heat for third with Mr. Nightlinger. The final time was 1:45.49.

Songster wins Bold Ruler Handicap in 2007 debut Print E-mail

BelmontIn his four-year-old debut, Songster won the Grade 3, six-furlong Bold Ruler Handicap by 2 1/2 lengths Saturday. Piloted by Edgar Prado, Songster had not raced since a fifth-place finish in August of 2006. It was also his debut race for the Godolphin stable, and Rick Metee, assistant to trainer Saeeed bin Suroor.

Bet A Buck stays undefeated in stakes debut Print E-mail

Penn NationalMichael Trombetta trainee Bet A Buck won his third consecutive start Thursday night at Penn National's six-furlong $45,000 Danzig Stakes, once again dominating opponents by several lengths. In his stakes debut, the bay gelding won the six-furlong event by five lengths. Bet A Buck has won his first three starts by a combined 15 lengths.
