Heavy favorite Asiatic Boy left foes in his wake on Saturday, winning the Group 2 UAE Derby by nearly ten lengths, and winning the UAE Triple Crown at the same time. Although his odds were 4-5, exacta bettors picked up value with Jack Junior (53-1) to pay $66.00. Adil (23-1) completed the trifecta to pay $1,345.40.
Asiatic Boy is trained by Michael De Kock and piloted by Weichong Marwing. The four-year-old Not For Sale colt now has four consecutive wins at Nad Al Sheba, and is owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum. The UAE Derby win makes Asiatic Boy the first winner of the UAE Triple Crown -- the UAE 200 Guineas and the Al Bastakia being the previous two jewels won by the colt.
The final time for the 1 1/8 mile (1,800 meters) event was 1:48:82. Last time out at this distance at Nad Al Sheba the colt won by seven lengths.
