Cool Coal Man shines in Fountain of Youth win Print E-mail

Cool Coal Man held off a determined Elysium Fields to win the Grade II Fountain of Youth Stakes on Sunday. The margin of victory was a quickly shrinking half length as the winner crossed the wire. Cool Coal Man, trained by Nick Zito, and piloted by Kent Desormeaux won the 1 1/8 miles contest on Gulfstream's dirt track in a final time of 1:50.07. A modest pace was set by Golden Spikes, but the Superfecta fills out with Elysium Fields in second, Court Vision third, and Z Humor fourth.

Favorite Monba was troubled by early traffic problems and finished last.

Cool Coal Man may try the Florida Derby next.
