In front-running Style, Todd Pletcher trainee Cowtown Cat won Hawthorne Race Course's Grade 2 Illinois Derby by 2 1/4 lengths. The effortless looking win was over Reporting for Duty and Bold Start. Even-money favorite Cobalt Blue was never a factor and finished off the board in seventh.
