OhioDelightful Kiss left his mark on the Ohio Derby for trainer Pete Anderson. Under jockey Jeffrey Sanchez, the longshot upset the Grade 2 Ohio Derby by 3 1/2 lengths to pay $51.80 for every $2 backing him. Moyer's Pond rallied to take second, with Illinois Derby runner-up Reporting for Duty taking third. Illinois Derby winner Cowtown Cat was bet down to sixty-cents as the heavy favorite, but finished out of the money in fourth. The final time for the 1 1/8 miles was 1:49.36.

Steve Asmussen trainee Forty Grams set the pace, but didn't last in the stretch. Cowtown Cat stalked the pace from three-wide and wasn't able to gear up a late run for contention. The winner, Delightful Kiss settled at the back early, rallied at the 3/8 pole while three-wide, and lead into the stretch.

Delightful Kiss has finished no better than third in has last three, but beat eventual Peter Pan Stakes winner Sightseeing, as well as eventual Barbaro Stakes winner Chelokee in an Allowance at Gulfstream this past February. Similar late contention tactics were used.

Moyer's Pond has never finished worse than second in five career starts, including two wins.

The $2 Exacta paid 249.20, the $2 Trifecta paid $1,590
