Hard Spun is back to leaving his foes a distant memory, winning Turfway's 1 1/8 mile Grade 2 Lane's End by three lengths. After losing and finishing off the board for the first time in the Southwest Stakes last time out, it looks like the promising Triple Crown nominee will be staying on the Derby trail.
Hard Spun's regular rider Mario Pino was in the irons again for trainer Larry Jones. Starbase led most of the way with Bullara close behind, while Hard Spun stalked the pace until taking over at the final turn. The two pace-setters faded to no factor after the stretch.
12-1 Longshot Sedgefield was second, 13-1 Joe Got Even third, and For You Reppo was fourth at 7-1. The $2 Exacta paid $98.60.
