Premium Tap wins King's Cup in Saudi Arabia Print E-mail

Third place in last year's Breeders Cup Classic, Premium Tap won Saudi Arabia's group I Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup at Riyadh on Friday. The race was run at a 1 1/2 miles, and the five-year-old colt won it by 2 3/4 lengths.

Still trained by John Kimmel, Premium Tap ran under jockey Kent Desormeaux, and it was the colt's first race for new owner King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. In his previous start, Premium Tap won November's $500,000 Clark Handicap.

John Kimmel says Premium Tap will next run the Dubai World Cup, in which case he'll face 2006 Eclipse Horse of the Year and Breeders Cup Classic champion Invasor and Godolphin's undefeated Discreet Cat--winner of last year's UAE Derby.

The Dubai World Cup will be broadcast on ABC television.
