It'd probably be easier for horses to win the Super Bowl. Last year's defeat of Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense to Curlin in the Preakness Stakes made it 29 years since a horse had last won the Triple Crown. The list of early nominations for the 2008 Triple Crown series is now available. Among the 449 three-year-old Thoroughbred hopefuls for this year's Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes are 31 nominations by top trainer Todd Pletcher; Eclipse-winning Juvenile, War Pass, trained by Nick Zito; and among two fillies nominated is Grade I winner Country Star, trained by Bobby Frankel. NOTE: This item has been updated on February 6 due to a previously unreported 449th entry!
