preaknessThe Preakness post draw nearly put Hard Spun and Street Sense back in their Derby posts. This time Hard Spun will be number seven, and Street Sense is eight --the winning post of lat year's winner Bernardini. Circular Quay is inside at post 3, and Curlin is next at 4. Derby Trial winner Flying First Class is inside from Hard Spun at number 6. The Grade 1 Preakness is run at 1 and 3/16 miles, and has a $1,000,000 purse.

Winners of the previous two years' Kingston Handicaps, Dave and Golden Commander, will try again at Belmont Park on Sunday, May 13. New York's turf champ Certifiably Crazy will also run the 1 1/8 mile, $100,000 turf contest.

Lone StarGrade 2 Lexington Stakes winner Slew's Tizzy leads the field of ten contenders for Saturday's Grade 3, $300,000 Lone Star Derby. The 1 1/16 mile event will be the Gregory Fox trainee's first test as a favorite --at 5-2 on the morning line-- after Slew's Tizzy upset Keeneland's Lexington Stakes by 3 1/2 lengths at odds of 40-. Robby Albarado will again pilot the colt at Lone Star Park's main event.

Jim Murray Handicap tops three Graded Stakes Saturday at Hollywood Print E-mail

Hollywood ParkOn the Acorn, winner of three from four starts this year, will aim for his second straight Grade 2 victory in the $250,000 Jim Murray Handicap at Hollywood Park on Saturday. The ninth on a ten-race card, the Jim Murray will be contested 1 1/2 miles over the Lakeside Turf Course. The other two graded stakes at Hollywood on Saturday are the $1000,000 Grade 3 Los Angeles Handicap (race 4), and the $100,000-added Grade 3 Senorita Stakes (race 6).
