Winner of three Grade I races in 2006, English Channel will run a 1 1/8 mile Allowance race on Gulfstream's turf Thursday. The race is for four-year-olds and up.
English Channel finished third in last year's Breeder's Cup Turf, which was won by Miesque's Approval. Reportedly trainer Todd Pletcher planned to run the son of Smart Strike in the Canadian Turf before the horse came down with a respiratory problem. Although healthy now, Pletcher didn't believe the horse was ready to run this weekend's Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup Turf.
