Lane's End crucial for Hard Spun |

A full field of 12 is set for the Grade 2 Lane's End this coming Saturday, and fans will be looking forward to seeing questions answered on the track. Will the once invincible Hard Spun be back in winning form? Or will pesky Pletcher dominate the weekend?
The track handicapper at Turfway has installed Hard Spun as the 5-2 morining line favorite. After being undefeated in four races, Hard Spun finished off the board in the Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn. Trainer Larry Jones decided Hard Spun did not like the track, and chose not to pursue the Rebel Stakes, explaining that the colt came back tired from workouts at Oaklawn. Hard Spun's performance in the Lane's End will determine whether or not he continues to pursue the Kentucky Derby.
Of course, Pletcher will have two horses in the race...

Chelokee--a Michael Matz prospect for the Lane's End--was not entered in any races at Turfway this weekend.
A maximum of 12 horses are allowed to race the 1 1/8 mile Lane's End. Preference was given to Graded winners, followed by stakes winners and total earnings. Because of overflowing nominations for the Lane's End, horses lined up for the race were also automatically nominated to the Rushaway.
