Lava Man returns in the $300,000, Grade 1 Charles Whittingham Memorial Handicap on Saturday. One of the nation's top older horses, and California's Horse of the Year, Lava Man finished a disappointing sixteenth last time out on March 31st, when running at Dubai's international championships in the Dubai Duty Free. Lava Man drew the outside rail in a field of eight for the Whittingham, and is running from the same post he won the race out of last year. Lava Man will attempt his third consecutive Hollywood Gold Cup win on June 30th.
