Michael Matz' Chelokee runs Sunday Print E-mail

Barbaro's trainer has favored Chelokee to Barbaro's half-brother Man in Havana as his 2007 Derby horse. Both horses debuted last fall, with Chelokee winning his maiden by almost fourteen lengths.

Chelokee is a son of sprint champion Cherokee Run, races for the Beechwood Partnership, and is owned by Centennial Farms  (who own Corinthian and Reverberate). After his Maiden debut, he was five wide at the turn and finished second to Sam P. by 2 1/4 lengths in an Allowance at Churchill Downs on November 25th. Eddie Castro was on the mount.

Ramon Dominguez was the jockey in Chelokee's maiden. Mark Guidry will be in the irons for Chelokee's one mile Allowance at Gulfstream on Sunday.
