 On May 5th, a new Kentucky Derby winner will wear the roses at Churchill Downs, and perhaps embark on the Triple Crown challenge, racing for the Preakness and Belmont Stakes. This Saturday's Coolmore Lexington Stakes is once again most likely the last chance to earn graded earnings to qualify for the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby. Here's a look at upcoming races through the weekend of Sunday, April 22.
The Withers Stakes on April 28th was Bernardini's ticket to the Preakness Stakes last year, but it's unlikely --barring a really bad case of Derby Fever-- any horse from that race will run the Kentucky Derby the week aftrer.
