A field of 10, including Jerry Hollendorfer trainee Bwana Bull, and liquidity trained by Doug O'Neill will run in this Saturday's grade 1 Santa Anita Derby. Of course, Todd Pletcher has two entries: King of the Roxy and Sam P. The Santa Anita Derby will once again be broadcast live on NBC television.
If you remember last year's cheap trifecta, topped by Brother Derek, you'll appreciate the greater number of options here. Bwana Bull has won his last three races, including the California Derby and the El Camino Real Derby for Jerry Hollendorfer. King of the Roxy won the 7 1/2 furlong Hutcheson Stakes for Todd pletcher on March 3rd. Liquidity was second in the Hollywood Futurity and Sham Stakes before finishing third last time out, in the Louisiana Derby on March 10th.
