kentucky oaksOn Friday at Churchill Downs, 14 three-year-old fillies will get their once-in-a-lifetime chance to become Kentucky Oaks winners. The leading contender for the $500,000 Grade 1 Oaks is Rags to Riches, winner if two back-to-back Grade 1 Stakes, and three consecutive wins under trainer Todd Pletcher. Rags was considered for the Kentucky Derby and would have first tested colts in the Santa Anita Derby if connections hadn't decided to stick with the ladies. On Tuesday, Rags to Riches drew post 11 among a full field of 14.

Todd Pletcher, of course, never comes short-handed, and will also saddle Cotton Blossom and Octave.

2006 Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Dreaming of Anna will be one of Rags to Riches most serious threats in the Kentucky Oaks, and will run from post 7 for trainer Wayne Catalano.
