Hollywood Park Stakes winners Saturday May 12

On the Acorn, Sailors Sunset, and Valbenny won Hollywood's three Graded Stakes on Saturday May 12. Here's a look at the winners in the Grade 2 Jim Murray Memorial Handicap, the Grade3 Senorita Stakes, and the Grade 3 Senorita Stakes.

Saturday at Hollywood Park, On the Acorn rallied to win the $250,000 Jim Murray Memorial Handicap over 1 and 1/2 miles of turf. The winning trainer was Victor Espinoza for trainer Mike Mitchell. Prospect Park was second, Noble Guest third. Six-year-old On the Acorn has now won four of five 2007 starts, and the Jim Murray was his second straight Grade 2 Stakes victory.

In the Grade 3 $111,600 Senorita Stakes, three-year-old filly Valbenny rallied to victory in the final stretch. It was the fourth Senorita win for jockey Alex Solis. The final time for the turf mile was 1:34.47.

Four-year-old Sailors Sunset won the Grade 3 $105,800 Los Angeles Handicap under jockey John Court. Sailors Saolors Sunset is trained by Marcelo Polanco and previously set the Cushion Track record last December at Hollywood Park.
