At Santa Anita on Sunday, Balance will be the only Grade I winner in a field of seven fillies running the Grade II La Canada Stakes.
The 1 1/8 mile race will be on a winning track for Balance, who won last year's Las Virgenes and Santa Anita Oaks--both Grade I--at Santa Anita Park. In her previous start, Balance finished third in the Grade I La Brea Stakes on December 30th. It was her first start since finishing eleventh in the Kentucky Oaks, a race where she went off as the favorite, and which was won by longshot Lemons Forever. Following the Kentucky Oaks in May 2006, she would have surgery to remove a bone-chip and spend nine months recuperating. Reports online With a look at other entries -- DRF via NTRA
