Camino Real makes two Derby wins for Bwana Bull Print E-mail

California Derby winner Bwana Bull won the El Camino Real Derby by a length at Bay Meadows on Saturday.

Triple Crown nominated Bwana Bull is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and piloted by Russel Baze. The son of Holy Bull broke well to the front before settling to the rear as the field led by Coalinga Kid turned into the backstretch. At three wide, Freesgood moved in for the lead at the final turn. At the 3/8 pole, Bwana Bull began making his bid and came into the stretch three-wide, overtaking Freesgood in the final furlong. Zoning In rallied for third.

Court the King finished fourth.

The final time for the mile and a sixteenth was 1.43.22, with the mile put away at 1.36.70.
