Invasor, Discreet Cat, Premium Tap clash in Dubai World Cup Print E-mail
Written by Gohorsepower.com
Wednesday, 28 March 2007
A field of seven, including King's Cup winner Premium Tap, are set to take on the world's richest race this Saturday. American Horse of the Year Invasor will start from the outside post, while Godolphin's undefeated Discreet Cat will run from the rail in the $6,000,000 Dubai World Cup. The race will air Saturday on ABC at 2:30PM Eastern.

When a four-year-old Invasor met three-year-old Discreet Cat last year at Nad Al Sheba's UAE Derby, Invasor finished off the board and recived his only career defeat. Invasor is a bigger horse this year, with more powerful hind quarters.

With Invasor having won the Argentinian Triple Crown and that country's Horse of the Year honors before the 2006 Breeders Cup Classic and American Horse of the Year title, Invasor is out to crush Discreet Cat's reputation as the only horse to beat him.

Discreet Cat has never won a race by less than three lengths, and he finishes in blazing fast times. However, he has never faced a field of this caliber before. He has not raced since last November's Grade 1 Cigar Handicap, having missed a February prep at the Dubai Racing Carnival due to a high temperature.

Besides Invasor and Discreet Cat, Premium Tap owned by King Abdullah of Saudia Arabia is one of the top contenders, and an impressive winner of Saudi Arabia's Group 1 King's Cup in February.

3—Bullish Luck, B. Prebble

4—Kandidate, S. Sanders

5—Premium Tap, K. Desormeaux
